Sacred Intimacy and Emotional Betrayal
We speak often of loyalty in physical terms—
who we sleep beside, who we commit to, who we claim.
But there is another kind of betrayal—
quieter, deeper, more corrosive.
It’s when the mouth speaks of love,
but the heart shares secrets with others.
It’s when we share beds, but not truth.
When we hold hands in public,
but dishonour each other in silence.
What are we, truly,
if we lay with someone at night
but carry parts of them as gossip by day?
True intimacy isn’t just about touch.
It’s about presence.
It’s about loyalty of the soul, not just the body.
It’s about being the safe space for each other—not the subject of someone else’s conversation.
This reflection came not from judgment,
but from heartbreak—my own and others.
I’ve felt the sting of being discussed behind closed doors,
by those who said they loved me most.
And I’ve realized:
The truest form of betrayal isn’t in leaving.
It’s in staying… but stepping out emotionally and energetically.
I no longer accept that kind of intimacy.
If we cannot hold each other with sacred truth,
then we must learn to part with sacred honesty.

Sacred Reflection:
“Let the love I share be pure, private, and present.
May I never speak of someone in ways I wouldn’t to their soul.”
